Hey there, my sweet peachie 🩷

It's been a looong while, but! I'll get to that in a bit. I'm writing this blog because today I watched a video on YouTube that kinda shook something loose in me, it was about an artist I really admire, talking about how she stopped drawing the way she used to and how everything slowly became about speed, efficiency, and what performs or sells the best, and I think you probably know where this is going, but yes, that hit a little too close to home for me. Because I think the exact same thing happened with me.

For as long as I can remember, I've been drawing, the first time I drew something was at the age of three! And I haven't stopped ever since. Art has always been such a huge part of my life and my identity, and I love it so much that I can't imagine a life without it. Ever since I was a tiny little peach, I would chase that feeling of wanting to be a better artist just because it made me happy, but somewhere along the way, it stopped feeling like that, it became about output, what works, and what I could make the quickest and sell the fastest. And honestly, when you're dealing with so many real-life responsibilities, it's not even a choice sometimes; you just stop yourself from slowing down, and I think, without realizing it, I just stopped allowing myself to be with my art. Not for content or sales, just for me.

Watching that video made me realize how much I miss that version of myself, the one that didn't overthink every single piece, the girl who didn't measure everything by how useful or profitable it was, the girl who just enjoyed the process, because she could. It made me realize that maybe I didn't really lose that part of me, I just buried it under pressure, and maybe this is me, trying to dig it back up again.

I don't really have a plan or know what this will look like, I just know I want to start making space for that feeling in my life again, even if it's just a tiny bit at a time.

Which brings me back to the question of why did I stop blogging? Because it felt like everything had to feel perfect, the photos, the graphics, the layouts, my recommendations, everything. But that kind of defeats the point, doesn't it? Which is why I decided tonight that it doesn't need to be perfect, I think I just want to come back to this space as I am.
If you're an artist, a creative of some sort, or even just someone who used to love something deeply and feels disconnected from it now? I hope you know you're not alone. 🫂
I'm figuring it out as I go, too.

And maybe we can find our way back, slowly. 🩷
